The short version

Yacht Race: Egg Cup Challenge does not collect, store on any server, share or sell personal information. The game has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking of its own. Playing the included Quick race does not require an internet connection, and the game itself does not send gameplay data over the internet.

Optional chart expansions are sold as in-app purchases. Those purchases are processed by Apple (on iOS) or Google (on Android, when that version is released), under their own privacy policies. We do not receive your payment card details.

What the game keeps on your device

The game stores a few small items on your device only, in the app’s local storage:

  1. Your race in progress. An automatic save of the current race so you can continue where you left off. This includes the course, the boats, any captain names you typed in, the computer captains you picked, and the moves made so far.
  2. Your sound setting. Whether you have muted the race sounds.
  3. A first-launch tip flag. Whether you have already seen the “Meet the fleet” introduction, so it is not shown again every time you open the app.

This information never leaves your device through the game. You can delete it by uninstalling the app. On Android you can also clear the app’s storage in your device settings.

Saved race files

When you tap Save race, the game creates a race file (a small JSON file with the course, captain names and every move). It is saved to your device, or wherever you choose to put it. When you tap Load, the game reads only the file you pick. These files stay under your control. We never receive them unless you choose to send one to us yourself — for example with a bug report to support@hoppingcrow.ca.

Network use

The game code does not call remote servers, and it does not include advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.

You may still use the network when:

None of that sends your race data or captain names to Hopping Crow.

Permissions

The game does not ask for access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, or any other personal information. Race sounds are synthesised on the device; nothing is recorded.

Children and families

The game is suitable for families. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children. Optional purchases use the store account already on the device and are subject to that store’s parental controls and purchase settings.

Canadian privacy law

Hopping Crow is based in British Columbia, Canada. Because this app does not collect personal information, there is ordinarily no personal information for us to use, disclose or retain under Canada’s federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) or British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). If that ever changes, we will update this policy first and explain the new practice in plain language.

Third parties

The game contains no third-party advertising, analytics or tracking code of our own.

Apple and Google may collect information about downloads, purchases, refunds and device diagnostics under their privacy policies when you use their stores. We do not control that information. Links for reference:

What would change this policy

We will update this policy before shipping any change that would alter the picture above, including for example:

There is no online multiplayer at launch. If we add online features later, this policy will be updated first. Until then, the App Store “App Privacy” answers for this app remain Data Not Collected.
